The hearing will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. in Room 366 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building in Washington, DC. The purpose of the hearing is to review recent actions of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) relating to permitting construction and operation of interstate natural gas pipelines and other natural gas infrastructure projects. The hearing will be webcast live on the committee’s website, and an archived video will be available shortly after the hearing concludes. Witness testimony will be available on the website at the start of the hearing. The primary impetus is the recent policy statements from FERC. As policy statements, neither document establishes binding rules. They are intended to explain how the Commission will consider applications for natural gas project construction. They will apply only to pending and new projects. Those applicants with projects now pending before the Commission will have the opportunity to supplement their records.
